Poor, poor rat :(
Yes, indeed poor rat! As a species homo sapiens seem so certain of our position to manipulate other species for our own gain. I wonder why you don't have people willing to become your cyborg experiments.....
There is humans with brain implants too. They have them as pain control, seizure control and for some kinds of degenerative diseases.
We also have hearing implants and all of them were developed with animals.
For the same reason that you care more about your mother/father/son/daughter than to other humans we care more about a human than to an animal.
